Seems like Scam spoke of something awhile back. Might wanna see if you can find it. Also, not sure if that's a topic covered in Sweet's "Superthread," which SHE NEEDS TO UPDATE AGAIN TO GET BACK ON PAGE-ONE OF OUR FORUM. Not sure if Aquaphor would help, but know I did use a small amount of it a few times.

YES SIR! ;-) I was working on some updates and I lost my dang links. A couple of people sent me things to post and my phone crashed yesterday. I am trying to find them again. I will bump it tonight if I still cannot find them. I usually update it on Sunday night anyway. :)

You are precious, girl, and I got a sneaking suspicion I'm not the only one who thinks that about you. You and John have made the coolest posts, yet, with your "Superthread" and his map. Still, I got a sneaking suspicion John is not regarded by most to be quite as "precious" as you, which I'm thinking is quite all right by him, if you know what I mean. And, furthermore, sometimes I imagine that you and others could imagine that I could imagine coming-up with an original cool idea, like you two have. Na- not even I could imagine that!

I like coconut oil and olive oil best for my moisturing needs. Neither is harmful to ingest which is a plus when using it on lips.

And vitamin E. I just buy the capsules and poke a hole in them with a needle and squeeze out however much I need.

    My 'precious'...
As a huge Lord Of The Rings fan I had this sudden vision of Gollum fretting over his 'precious'. Although I don't think Sméagol was what you had in mind. ;-*

The dental oncology department at our cancer centre gave me tubes of lip balm that worked fantastic. My lips were horrible untill then. It may be worth a call to see if they have a product available for you to try. They carried quite a few helpfull product's that worked well.

Buzz really likes Toothette Mouth Moisturizer which can even be used inside the mouth as well as the lips. He was given a tube in the hospital. I had to order it on line as I could not find a store which sold it here. The company is Sage Products and reorder # is 6083. The company carries a lot of oral care items as well. Karen

If you are Sweet, you aren't saying I'm Precious are you, LOL....although to some I might be...I know my wife and my two chocolate labs think that I'm precious...

I could tell it from the smiles on their faces this week-end while they were floating in our newly built pool or lying on the deck near it, (while I was working hard on landscaping, SOD, irrigation and painting, LOL).... But I did manage some fishing both Thursday and Saturday (Greg)...LOL.

Kent, thanks for the mention...I really enjoy adding survivors to the list. I even hope more so that it's being used as I originally had in mind. To help each other that live close by through some form of support....

I know I have personally met a few on here (lunch or dinner) that are in my locale, and even HONDO once when he visited Florida.

Rozaroo, is that (lip balm)the name of the product?

My wifes got two weeks left of RADS.
They took her off Erbitux for a week, saying that they think the RT erbitux interaction is producing many more mouth sores than ususal. But today the Onco said he just doesnt know of its the Erbitux or Fanconi?

So her lips are blistered as hell, so this post is timely.

Also she's up and down with slight fever and its not conclusive that she has infection, though they put her on a regim of augmentine , which she's completed.

I am sorry I did not respond sooner! It came in a lipstick tube & has my Dentist's name on it. I think she had it made to her specification's. The ingredient's were soybean oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, flax seed oil, shea butter, vitamin e,peppermint oil & aloe vera. I kept the empty tube in my medicine box. I went through tubes of it.She saw how badly my lips were & said it would help & it sure did. I kept putting it on day & night. You need something waxy as it stays on well.I hope this help's.

I am betting it's the fanconis. I chose not to do the erbitux and my mouth was destroyed. After 10 rads I was on the peg only. By the end my mouth was bleeding constantly. When I went for my check up the girls at the front desk asked to see my tongue because they remember how bad I was. I showed them Friday and they were amazed because it looked almost normal. Carole said she will never forget my tongue she said it looked grey and dead and full of sores. She said to me Friday that she thought I was going to lose my tongue back then. I told her to bite hers and not even say that. Good grief.

Also, Clearblue, the nurses would give me these packs of foam brushes on a stick so I could still brush my teeth. In the package there was also a mouth rinse and a mouth moisturizer which was great for my lips.

I just found the last tube I have with only a tiny bit left. It says, Toothette® oral care Mouth Moisturizer, reorder no. 6083 SAGE products Inc.

The tooth brush was just taking pieces of my mouth with it. The green foam brushes were a little better, but I still bled a lot.

    Mouth sores
I had one huge sore on my inner left cheek that would not clear up untill past seven month's. I used the baking soda & salt soloution constantly & still do. The rest of the sores were easiest to handle. I do know that Sweet had a brutal time of it for alot longer than most of us. I believe she used L Glutamate powder. She would be the perfect person to ask. I am sure she will see this post & add her expertise on this subject.

Well, I remember that in my first September appointment, that would have been four months out from my end of rads, that my RO was still shocked at the state of my mouth and totally could see why I couldn't eat or drink by mouth. In my October/novemember appointment he was trying to push me a little more into trying to eat and drink. My mouth was bleeding a little less and the sores were not as angry. That is when I realized I had the stricture and had to be stretched.

I wish I would have known about the Glutamine back then. I really do think it helps.

    sores
It took about a month for me. I only developed a couple anyway but they were right on my tongue and right on my throat; just enough to shut down the entire mouth for a few months. I think they would have disappeared sooner but I kept trying to eat too soon. When I backed off and gave them time and space to heal they did so rapidly. I also swished a few times a day with organic aloe vera juice, used the caphosol and used L-Glutamine.

    aquaphor
My grandma had severe dry lips from radiation and chemo because of cancer at the base of her tongue. she used aquaphor and it seemed to help her as much as it possibly could. so give aquaphor a try
