It's a good day!!! CEA going DOWN!!!

Hehehe... I'm having a good day today!! It's the second day after chemo (had my infusion yesterday) and so far (knock on wood), I'm doing really good. So good, I'm in the middle of doing a load of laundry which a lot of you would say, "So what's the big deal, one load of laundry?" Well, the big deal is I'm in an apartment building and the laundry room is downstairs, which means 18 steps down, 18 steps up, 18 steps down to put the wash in the dryer, 18 steps up, then 18 steps down to get the laundry, and 18 steps back up with the laundry to put it away. Doing all these steps after a chemo session where we all know the bad time I had with it on the first infusion. So I'm pretty darn happy about this
Then, when I got up from putting the wash in the dryer, there in my inbox was an email from my oncologist (she's been away in China for 2 weeks). Remember I went in on Monday this week for my blood work and CEA test. When I was getting my chemo yesterday, the chemo nurse had the results to my blood work tests and all my blood counts were perfectly normal or better than normal, so no problem getting my chemo infusion. I asked her about the CEA results but she didn't have those (I guess she only gets sent the ones she needs to know, and the rest are sent to my oncologist. Well, Sharlene sent me an email to say.... ta da!!! The CEA that was taken after my first infusion (the one I was so sick through) had risen to 25.0 Yikes!! She said she knew I'd be disappointed but we have to give it another try or two. So the CEA test I had done this past Monday, is after the second chemo infusion... and it has dropped to 15.0!!! Dropping 10 points after only one more half dose since the first full dose..... needless to say, am I ecstatic or what??? Only two infusions and it's starting to show a good size downward trend!
I beez a much happier camper now... knowing this chemo is showing good results really early in the game

Cheryl it is great to hear your CEA has gone down. I know they tell us not to dwell on the numbers but darn, thats hard to do. I'm hoping my next CEA test shows a downward trend or at least doesn't go up anymore. I seem to have crazy type CEA as mine at its highest was just over 9000 and had at one time dropped to 23, still high but the lowest it had been for me since dx. Also glad to hear that the chemo hasn't been as rough on you this time. I know that if I can at least do my normal household stuff and get out of the house some my attitude and outlook are much better. Hoping for continued success.

super duper!
Hi Cheryl,
That's wonderful news to hear your CEA has gone down 10 points! Isn't it amazing how one phone call (or email) with good or bad news can have us ecstatically pleased or crumpled and depressed- I'm so glad this news has you ecstatically pleased!
