Omg! Lefty has fallen, again

You can find me in the fetal position, in the corner.

I'm four weeks post op from reconstruction revision surgery. It was a very tough one, not sure why. I have been living 24/7 in nike sports bras and it still fell. Gah! I have a backup PS, recommendation, if necessary. My PS' nurse just told me that he did not have experience with alloderm. From everything I've been reading, the sling sounds like my next obvious course of action. All this officially happened about an hour ago. Soooo upset.

    So far so good...
I like the look of my new nipples and will probably go for the tattoos next month. I will admit that I am so paranoid that I don't really even sleep on my side b/c I am afraid of mushing them! (My PS told me not to sleep on them, but I have no idea when that caveat "expires" - lol.)

I was hoping like crazy that your situation would have worked out better. I hope that this next procedure does the trick for you. I thought alloderm was used when you don't have enough muscle tissue to cover the implant to keep it from moving. It makes sense that they would use it as a sling to secure your implant. My PS told me that it was a possibility for me but then felt that it wasn't needed - and you know that mine were starting to slip. I swear the sports bra is what got them back in-line. I still feel that lefty is a little bit of a wanderer but not like before.

Anyway, my thoughts are with you and I am keeping everything crossed that your appointment on Thursday goes well. Please let me know!

    All great news!
Nice to hear all is well. Isn't it so true that having to sleep in certain positions is one of the biggest challenges? Doesn't sound like a big deal til you hit the 5th or 6th month. But, it's a challenge to your quality of life.

Interesting that your sports bra secured your runaway and mine fell asleep on the job! Haha.

Never a dull moment! Stay tuned for...How the Boob Falls.

    Your journey with lefty
Lefty is sure a trouble maker and I am sooo sorry you have to continue to have surgery for this. I know you are upset and understandably so. Sending hugs your way but will be careful how hard I hug Lefty.

    Sweet!
Thank you all! It seems silly, but it's amazing how much support and well wishes mean coming from someone who truly understands. You know, like a sister!! My mood is lighter tonite.

I didn't post this earlier, I was so insulted. After speaking with PS' nurse, I called back to talk to PS. He chose NOT to take my call. I was told "he said he'll talk to you thursday." He has the worst bedside manner, the Worst!!!!

    Ok, only happy thoughts... Haha

So sorry to hear this news
    Candace,

it is so hard to have to take fall back when you are so close
    to the finish line.

I agree with everyone maybe it is time to see a new PS. I will
be doing just that. My PS did a great job on my boobs, I
posted a pic on expression page but did not do so well on
the nipples. And kinda lost interest in me.. He tried to tell
me they are not that bad. I was thinking you gotta be freaking
kidding me, left one is not there and the right one, you can
just make out the outlines. So I kissed him good bye.

I learned it on this board, we have to own our breasts so
keep on going till you have what you want.

    Hugs,
    Ayse

    OH MY GOODNESS!!!
Candace this is so disheartening I am so bummed for you! I had my secure the pocket surgery and build a nipple skin graft near the same time and I understand all you have been dealing with these past few weeks, GRRRR to Lefty! I agree I would be in search of a second opinion or perhaps another surgeon. I did ask my doc what the odds were that it would fall again (mine fell orig. towards the armpit) and he said it could happen but was not likely if I kept the bar on which of course you have! Gosh, I am at a loss here and so frustrated for you! Please keep on working at it it will be worth it.

My first consultation with a PS, last fall was horrible! I took my husband for emotional suport, so he was right there in the office with me. First off Doc opens my johnny and says "Have you ever heard of weight watchers?" I was flabbergasted!! My husband stands up and tells the PS that this consultation is now over! I never tried another PS as my surgery was in 4 days. So I totally understand about rude, obnoxious, sefl-centered PS's.

I am sorry you had a bad experience. I am praying that the new PS will be much better.

    Be Well,

that you have not lost your sense of humor! LOL@How the Boob Falls!

I am so disgusted with your PS. What a jerk! I hope that this new one is better to you.

Yes, sleeping in certain positions is a big challenge. I must wake up 10x a night stopping myself from rolling over onto my side. I see my PS again next month and am hoping that he says that I can sleep however I want now.

    Hang in there!

Candance .. so sorry, horror stories posted .. sigh!
Here's mine ... 5 surgeries, no nipples or tattoos to date.

#1 -- bilateral mastectomy, with tissue expanders 1/12/10
#2 .. emergency surgery - April 2010 due to staph infection (contacted while on Vacation with family in Grand Canyon, Arizona - memories!) - 5 day hospital stay
#3 .. replacement of diseased tissue expander .. righty May 2010
    #4 .. exchange surgery .. July 23, 2010
#5 ... righty fell .. re-positioning surgery 9-29-10, day before my medical insurance expired ...no joke.

so, 5 surgeries - for my breasts. I want my body to rest and heal for a while - before tackling nipples (undecided), or tattoos.

My humble opinion .. seek the counsel of another PS .. fight fight to get back to your pre-op look .. don't give in, or give up!

    NOT OKAY!!!!!
Oh I am LIVID, "he will talk to you Thursday" how insensitive and arrogant can one get I bet if his private area were recently renovated he would want someone to show some concern! Candace I would blast this person with all I had on Thursday, I would let them know you do not call for help because you have too much free time on your hands you call because you are fighting for your life and your dignity and are trying to regain some of what this horrible disease has taken for you SHAME ON HIM!!! My EX_PA was rude to me so I asked her if she had a medical degree which she did not, I told her to mark my chart that she was not to see me again and she has not. I am so sorry you have been treated this way, we are not cattle we are people and without us and our concerns they would be jobless, they work for us find one that has respect and a much better attitude!

    Big hugs to you,

Remember you don't have a obligation to your PS. Sometimes when we are with a doctor for a long time we stay even when we know we shouldn't.

Find a new PS because you deserve better!
