Infection is the first thing
Infection is the first thing that pops into my mind with a high WBC. I am assuming that your platelet count was ok, because, with the bruising, you want to check that it is normal. Orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure caused from a sudden position change--especially standing up) can cause fainting and did cause me to faint while on chemo.
Please watch for signs of infection: fever, unexplained pain, redness, etc. Check the area around your port carefully. Are you seeing your doctor soon or did the ER decide this was treatment related?
"A high white blood cell count usually indicates:
■An increased production of white blood cells to fight an infection
■A reaction to a drug that enhances white blood cell production
■A disease of bone marrow, causing abnormally high production of white blood cells
■An immune system disorder that increases white blood cell production

Are you getting a neulasta shot? I get one after every chemo cycle and it raises your WBC. Just last week it was up to 37.5 so I couldn't have chemo. Had to wait a week till it came down. This happened to me 3 time during chemo (Thank God I finished Chemo last Monday!)
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. Hope you feel better soon.

I Agree
I have to completely agree with what CypressCynthia said in her post. That must have been a scary thing to go through. I see that you are Stage 4 and have had both radiation and chemo. Both of those certainly do a number on you physically. Hopefully you got a copy of your blood test results. I am sure your oncologist would be interested in knowing about this as soon as possible. If you did not get a copy then your oncologist can send for a copy. It could make a difference in your course of treatment. I had problems with low blood pressure during chemo but did not have the issue with white blood count that you seem to have. Please take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing.0 -

I think you meant that they found WBCs in your urine Molly, which is indicative of infection. Urine should not have any WBCs as the urinary tract is sterile.

WBC's in urine are not normal.
In blood, either a low WBC or a high WBC can indicate infection. Think of WBC's as soldiers marching off to fight an infection in your body. At first, your body sends as many soldier WBCs as it can and you will have a high WBC. As your body's supply of fighting WBC's is depleted, your WBC will drop. A low WBC in an infection is often much scarier to me as it means that my baby is about to go into septic shock (I'm a neonatal NP).0 -
