Anybody on this site a retired military spouse that, because of cancer, is permanently disabled?

    I'm divorced from my retired military spouse, getting TRICARE's CHCBP (Continued Health Care Benefits Program) and have just been qualified for SSDI. What kind of questions do you have?

    Sorry I haven't answered before now, I was getting over chemo on Tuesday.

    I've been getting disability for two years in August. I just received a letter and card from Medicade telling me I have to take Parts A and B, even though I have TriCare Standard and love it. I'm only 56 years old, but the way they are talking I have to have Medicade as my primary insurance.

    You probably won't be able to answer the question because you are just now starting to get SSDI. From what I understand, you have to receive SSDI for 25 months before you are automatically put on Medicade.

    You are correct, you have to be on SSDI for 2 years before you can start collecting medicade. Have you tried asking anybody at TRICARE? I know that TRICARE always requires you to file with other insurance if you have any, before you can file with TRICARE, so that would be true with medicaid as well. Good luck finding the info you need!
