Send her our way! For yourself be in contact with her. It is amazing how quickly friends drop away. Listen to her, hug her, Clean her house, shop for her, cook for her, when she is up to it take her out. If she has kids take them out for the afternoon so that she can rest. Ask her what you can do for her.
I agree, send her here. It is easy to tell you are already a good friend to her, don't change.
Hugs and prayers for her and you,

Beth,
Is your friend of facebook? If so, message me her name & I'll "introduce" myself to her on there. I am also 35,I was 34 when I was diagnosed last June. I had stage 2 cancer in my right breast but also decided on having a bilateral mastectomy. I had 6 rounds of chemo. I'm currently in remission -I'd love to chat with your friend & be available for any questions she might have or just to share my store & offer encouragement. I'm currently in remission. I personally did join a local support group for younger women called Young Survivors. I didn't join though, until a few months after I was done with chemo. While having my chemo treatments it was hard enough just concentrating on getting through chemo!
*hugs*

Hello Beth & Heather;
I am new to this site, but reading your comments I must say that support of my girlfriends are the best that happened to me, so I decided respond your comments.
I think that sharing information and own experience is necessary for healing. Hearing that you are not alone and that they are people around you who are going thru the same. Everybody have different way dealing with it.
I am also available on Facebook (Helen B.C.) if your friend would like to chat.
And my story is .......
at age 37, this January (2011) I was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer at stage 3.
I do not smoke, drink, do drugs, practically living "boring" live style and have no family history of breast cancer, so diagnosis was pretty shocking to me, friends and even to my family doctor.
Well, I had operation on Valentine Day (Feb-14/2011) - Lumpectomy and also Centennial note and another 14 Lymphs were removed and right now I am in recovery. All of it done in my right side, so my right arm is "recovering" as well.
I will be seeing oncologist for further treatment (chemo & radiation) about early in April. I also been diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ ), so I am expecting that oncologist "offer" me double mastectomy as well.
I am living in Canada, health care here is covered by our province, BUT you are waiting for your medical treatment, in urgent matter waiting time is weeks and for appointments with specialist or like MRI even months.
Emotional support is very important, at least to me. I live alone (no family or children) so my girlfriends making sure that I am take care of. They will take me to doctor's appointments, grocery (as I was not driving for few weeks) and most important they are making sure that we are having fun.0 -

She is lucky to have you, and you are wonderful for thinking ahead of her needs. Please know that I joined this forum not too long ago because of my mom. So I can safely say that here there is always someone to give good advice, share their own experiences, and most importantly give support to all in need.
Wishing you and your friend all the best through this rough journey!

You are an amazing friend to be thinking of getting support for your friend~ I wish I had a friend who was that devoted to me! This board is incredible! There is always someone to answer a question for you or just to listen to you vent! The knowledge-base is astronomical! These are some smart sisters! And they are pink also, so they are pink sisters, the best kind. If your friend makes it to this discussion board, have her look me up, and I will be happy to chat with her or just listen.

BETH GUILLORY
HI BETH I AM SO VERY SORRY YOUR FRIEND IS GOING THROUGH THIS, IS HORRIBLE AND YOU FEEL OUT OF CONTROL. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH DCIS ON 2-10-11 OF THE LEFT BREAST HAD BREAST MRI OF BOTH BREAST AND THEY FOUND CHANGES ON THE RIGHT BREAST AT THIS I DECIDED TO HAVE A BILATERAL MASTECTOMY WHICH WAS DONE ON 3-29-11. I KNOW WHAT YOUR FRIEND IS GOING THROUGH, HAVING SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS IS ONE OF THE BEST THING SHE COULD HAVE. I FOUND IT VERY HELPFUL TO TALK ABOUT IT AS OFTEN AS I COULD, I ALSO PRAYED WITH SO MUCH FAITH AS WELL AS SITTING BY MYSELF TO RELAX AND THINK THINGS THROUGH. I WILL SAY A PRYER FOR HER I HOPE I WAS ABLE TO HELP A LITTLE I TO HAVE QUESTIONS THAT ARE STILL NOT ANSWERED BUT I AM VERY POSITIVE. BETH YOU ARE YOUR FRIENDS ANGEL

The fact that you care this
The fact that you care this much I am sure is a blessing to her in itself! Continue to be there for her and willing to listen. Some things I have appreciated after surgery and since beginning chemo are having meals brought to my house (things like fresh cold fruit and pudding are especially good to me since starting chemo last week), taking me to a boutique which caters to breast cancer patients to pick out some hats with me and sending me little surprises in the mail (a music bracelet since I direct the chorus at my school and had to give it up this semester, an angel BC pin, etc. - so something meaningful for her life).
