One week
I had the same feeling for about a week, last month. I took some Senna to help things along. You might also try stool softeners, but I don't know if you can take them at the same time or not. I would think about consulting w another doctor, seems funny that a doctor doesn't have any advice. I'm still kinda new, so I have very limited knowledge. Hope dad feels better soon.0 -

Thanks for the help! He takes Seneca/stool softner and something else regularly. He has regular BMs but whether he has to go or not, he has this feeling.0 -

That is exactly the symptoms I had during that whole week, and I must admit that it was the most miserable week of all. I don't why mine suddenly went away. Tell dad he is not alone.0 -
there can be a few reasons.
there can be a few reasons. my mom went through the same thing. it could be that when they removed part of the colon they left the rectum and anus intact. so when the urge to defacate comes along the body doesnt know everythings not connected so it sends signals telling the body to get to the bathroom. i was told the best thing to do is sit on the pot and let the urge pass. You might also want to ask the doctor about suposatorys.0 -
