Week of treatment
Or the week after? The further away you get from the treatment the easier it can be for handling the cold.
I used to make my own, with chocolate protein powder, peanut butter and sometimes a banana. I found if I kept the ice to a minimum it made the shakes easier to drink.
Just a thought.

don't worry, my mum has same symptoms
Hi Love2Cats,
My mum has FOLFOX+ Avastin too, she has the same feeling of numbness. She stopped drinking cold stuffs since she started this regimen. I put the fruits into hot boiling water before she eats them. It helps! I tried the 'hot fruits', and they don't taste bad at all! She can't even touch my glass dining table and the stainless steel tap, she wears cotton gloves all the time.
According to the Chinese medicine practitioners, cold drinks and cold stuffs are not good for our body. My mum oncologist also reminds us not to take any food from the fridge, has to wait till they are warmer or at least sit in room temperature for a while.
Best wishes to you!

I talked like a duck
after 7 folfox. Everything neuro reacted. Drooled, talked like a duck, fell, walked funny, couldn't write. They put me in hospital, even did spinal tap, but it was the chemo. They wanted me to take speech therapy, etc, but I declined and started to get better within a month or two after stopping. Almost two years later have severe neuro in feet/hands and some body tingling, but so far so good with cancer, (just took a c scan, no results yet). It has been an interesting journey, good news other than neuro in hands/feet the majority of issues have cleared up. Good luck...Pat0 -

You'll take ya a big gulp one of these days and think your gonna choke to death....you won't but you sure will think you are...Folfox has some sneaky tendancies, one of which is that it sensitizes the nervous system just prior to wrecking it..As it does this it opens the nerve endings up for sensitivity issues, one of which is the cold sensivity, another is neuropathy or numbness in extremities fingers toes etc...can slur speech and it caused me to actually have to stop talking when it was cold outside, my mouth would get so numb my lips quit moving..........Glad all that crap is behind me....and the first thing I had when the cold sensitivity left was a large chocolate milkshake......:).....buzz0
