Pleural Effusion after lobectomy
I am 6 weeks post-op for a right lower lobectomy. I have Stage 1B adenocarcinoma, nodule just touching the elastic of pleura.
I had a CT scan done late last week since I am starting chemo next week. CT scan showed moderate pleural effusion. I am scheduled for a CT guided thoracentesis on Thursday. Has anyone had a pleural effusion after a lobectomy?

pleural effusion
Kim,
I also had a pleural effusion after a left upper lobectomy. Mine, however, was small and eventually resolved on it own. Mine did still show up on a CT six months after my surgery. I would imagine that this is not unusual. Good luck with your thoracentesis.

Kim,
Thanks for the response. The thoracentesis was not what I thought it would be. But I can breathe easier so it was worth it.
