Lumpectomy
I had a lumpectomy back in January. I had neoadjuvent chemo (chemo before the surgery) to shrink things as much as possible. That made the lumpectomy a whole lot easier.
What to ask? Lymph nodes - will there be some removed? How big an area does the surgeon anticipate removing? Will reconstruction be necessary?0 -

I would think they would do another biopsy too to see if it is bc. It might not be. Is there a reason they can't?
My breast surgeon told us everything we needed to know, so, I didn't have a lot of questions. He was excellent and even sent home a lot of literature for us to read.
Good luck to you,

My biopsy showed suspicious for bc...and they recommended the lumpectomy...
So I had it done. They didn't take any lymph nodes at all...only the lump. Since it turned out to be bc, I had to go for another surgery to biopsy the sentinal lymph node...that was just done 2 wks ago, still waiting for paths...if it is possible, I will need yet another surgery to take out the rest of lymph nodes and chemo...if not in lymph node, then only radiation...
hope this helps...this was the general process I was given right from the start.
Best of luck...by the way, the surg for the lumpectomy was not hard at all...hardly any pain afterward...only took two regular tylenol afterward and was given tyl #3's after the surg. the surg for the lymph nodes was very different - am still on pain pills for nerve pain & it's still very tender to move around & do normal stuff...
Best of luck!!
I would ask what the biopsy did show and if anything suspicious showed at all...
