So sorry you were so sick.
So sorry you were so sick. If it was nausea. Talk to your doctor. There is some very good drugs that can help with that. I was on on called Emend. I never got sick. Thats not to say that you may not feel to well, tired, run down, kinda flu like, but not sick enough for the ER. I sure hope you can get some help with this. Hugs Hang in there0 -

I was on Emend, Zofran and Compazine and between the three of them, still managed to have nausea(although no vomiting, Thank God!) If you are prone to nausea, you may need to take one or all three of these drugs. They DO work though. If it was not for them, I would have spent every day kneeling to the porcelein god. Glad you got the first one under your belt. It was the hardest one for me also. The Scopolomine patch might work. I use it for when we go on a cruise and it works great! Good Luck and keep us abreast of your progress.
Be Well,

You can try the patch, but you might want some back up to. Just a thought.
if i stay om 3 drugs plus the patch your thoughts on helping nausea. having hard time to eating thought even makes me sick to my stomach. di0 -
I hope you are feeling better.
I also was sick for nine months with both of my pregnancies. I expressed my extreme fear of that to my oncologist and trusted that she would prevent it but the nausea hit me on day three after my 1st chemo. Day four wasn't looking any better so I went to the emergency room. I too had a male nurse. I wish you could have had my male nurse because he was fantastic. I never even had to sit down in the waiting room before I was sent to a treatment room, briefly spoke to a doctor and then started on IV fluids. I left there with a prescription for two different nausea meds that actually worked compared to the pills my onc had prescribed which just came right back up. I shopped around for another oncologist after that and I never had a problem with nausea again. In addition to the nausea meds they give before the chemo infusion, I also had a prescription for Emend, and some kind of steroid. I also had a topical gel to rub on my wrist if I started to feel nauseated. If your doctor doesn't take steps to prevent your nausea you might want to shop around for another onc. Some doctors care more than others and you deserve one who cares enough to keep you well throughout your treatments. By the way, I too am triple negative and we have many triple negatives on this board so you are not alone. Let us know how you are doing and hopefully your second chemo will be better than your first one.
HUGS!!!

I'm a triple negative just a few weeks further along in treatments. I had a left mastectomy with clear margins but I need to do 4 A/C then 4 Taxol -dense dose. The first A/C was the worst! I didn't think I could continue so I posted a message on this wonderful board. Everyone gave me such good advice and encouragement. I drank a lot of water before chemo. I called the infusion center with every problem and they pretty much took care of it all. It turned out that when they gave me Pepcid through my port before chemo it really helped calm my stomach. I'm halfway through now - just finished my last A/C and at least for me it has gotten easier with each one. I hope that happens for you too.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

1 Down & 7 To Go
Hi Di,
"Wonder why going thru all this if cancer free but guess the triple neg is causing me to have to be aggressive lucky me."
Congratulations on making it through your 1st chemo. My 1st was on 3/24/10 and my last was on 8/4/10 (4 A/C and 12 Taxotere). I am triple negative, also. No cancer cells were EVER found in my breast tissue. They were ONLY found in my axillary lymph nodes. After my axillary dissection and mastectomy surgeries I was technically considered cancer-free. The reason for the chemo was to make triple sure (lol) that none of those nasty cancer cells had traveled anywhere else in my system. After all, it only takes one of those suckers to start replicating and causing havoc. Chemo is a systemic therapy. I was willing to do whatever it took to kill off any remaining cancer cells even if it made me as sick as a dog for a while - and it did. I have too much to live for (married, 2 children ages 18 and 20) not to give it my best shot. I know you do too.0 -
