Widow discrimination
Imagine my surprise when I called the insurance agent and she said it was most likely because of my status as a widow. She said apparently the statistics that insurance companies use show that widows have more accidents. ????? So, we are so distraught that we can't even drive our cars?? I was floored. The only reason i called the insurance company to report the death was because I thought my rate would be lowered with one less driver.
Just curious if anyone else has had this happen yet. I'm assuming that it's the same for all insurance companies. I don't have the time right now to do insurance shopping on top of all the other paper work. So, if you haven't told your company yet, just keep your mouth shut.

Never knew
Debbie,
Gosh, that's not fair that cause we're widows our insurance is higher??? Mine was due shortly after tom died and guess I never even paid attention. I'll have to check and if it's higher, my insurance guy is getting a phone call and it won't be a "friendly' Hello!
Funny how being single doesn't sound as bad as "being a widow" isn't it?
Take care Deb! 'Carole"0 -

I don't really have the time nor the patience right now to research various insuracne companies. I imagine that they all follow suit with regards to widow rates. My only hope though would be to call a new company and just say that I am "single". Don't know if they would dig to find out otherwise.
