    Appointment Results
    Well, after my visit with the onc, it was decided that I will need to go through a bone scan to check on a problem in my left hip, and also to see a dental specialist to work with me on the pain in my jaw. Always something. My markers were okay, so no problem there. Hoping the hip and jaw are just problems created by the TD. Thank you all for being there with me.....It was a bit crowded, but the onc was glad to have the company, as well as I was glad to see you all. Hugs, Judy

    Judy - Sorry I'm a day late with my well wishes, but your news was so good. Hips and jaws are common problems among the rest of the population. Just ask me - I'm in Florida with the 55 and over set. Relax. You'll do just fine. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Marilynn

    Bone Scan
    Lynn, the bone scan is scheduled for March 15th at 10:00. It will take about three hours, as they inject you with a radioactive material in the blood stream, which takes at least three hours to seep into your bones. Then they do a scan over the entire body which will show any leisions on the bones. Hopefully there will be nothing there, and we will then go to an ortheopedic specialist to see what can be done to stop this pain. As far as my jaw is concerned, through tests by my neurosurgeon, the problems is a nerve bundle that was damaged during chemo, and there is nothing that can be done,other than to kill the nerve in my face. This would result in me not having any feeling in my face (left side), and I would drool and eventually I would have "droop jaw" because of muscle deterioration. I choose not to go that route, and will be looking to a dental specialist to see if there is something else wrong with that region causing the pain. I know it is always something, but we certainly do lead exciting lives when we receive a cancer diagnosis. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.     Glad to hear everything is so far so good. I'm sure you'll be on pins and needles until after the bone scan because we simply worry about these things. So, toss some of your worry our way and we'll carry some of it for you.

    Well, at least for now - we'll gratefully accept.

    Truly, Judy - I'll be hoping for a "clean" bone scan and solutions that will bring you relief from the pain you're experiencing. Anything BUT cancer, right?

    Yes, the "dark side" of the treatment that saves our lives is that it also often results in other lifelong health issues. (Sheesh...)

    Susan, you are so right about the treatment causing other lifelong problems. In order to treat the cancer, we put ourselves at risk for so many other problems, but you just have no other choice but to trust your doctors to do what it takes to get rid of the beast.

    Marilyn, I envy you and the weather in Florida. Myself, being almost 67 keeps me from enjoying the things I enjoy so much on the lake, but my day is coming where I will be able to enjoy them again. It will be fun to see the grandkids faces when I outrun them on the jet ski. Hope that day comes soon. Hugs to all, Judy

    Sorry, I missed you appointmen due to having mine. Unfortunately, my visit did not go as was expected. I do have a severe side effects from Arimidex which are required a special treatments by endocrinologist.

    New Flower, it is good to hear from you. The pain in my left hip started after I had been on Femara for 3-1/2 months. I could hardly walk, and the onc switched me to Tamoxifen. i really think my problem is caused from the hormone inhibitor drug. However, it hasn't gotten any better in two years, so hopefully if it isn't cancer, then it will be deterioration of the bone, or something they can repair. Keep me up to date on your progress. We are all in this together, and it is so good to have info from someone who has experienced the same things. Hugs, Judy

    I read all the posts and will certainly be thinking about you as you go for the bone scan on the 15th. I started Arimidex in January. I already had osteoarthritis so it's very disconcerting not knowing what if any of my pain is increased by the Arimidex. My knees are both hurting. MRI showed bone spurs and arthritis but no new knee for me until I can't stand the pain. I had 4 nerve blocks in my lumbar a few weeks ago. Now all of a sudden my teeth are super sensitive to cold. It's never ending and one wonders if we all don't get suspicious with every new pain. I see rads/onc and med/onc in the next couple of weeks. I will be having CT scan of just my chest area. I just hope there are no surprises. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
