I love you all so much! Thank you for wonderful messages and thoughts. Two weeks ago my son(11) started with a cough and sore throat, then a few days later boom! Fever of 102+ for 3 days. Dr said it was the flu. I was so scared I would get it. I diligently stayed on top of his meds and watched for symptoms in me. Four days later, my daughter (9)warned me she was getting it. Then...four days of fever, up to 104.5, cough and sore throat. Another trip to the Dr. and now more meds. Meanwhile, my son is still coughing like crazy, nothing helps, all day and all night. No wheezes, can hear air moving, lungs sound clear. Hmm. On Friday, 10 days after his first Dr. visit, he wakes up feeling terrible and....temp again 101.8!! Agghh.....back to Dr.....different antibiotic and more and different meds. Also chest xray, CBC and several other tests.
I disinfected my house as best I can, sent blanket to the cleaners, cooked, medicated, and cared for the two kiddo's (my daughter is still coughing quite a bit too. she seemed to be getting better, but last night she coughed a lot).....this all started on my last chemo day almost two weeks ago and now chemo is coming up again on Tuesday.
I'm worn out and getting cranky but I want to cry that my son is so sick. I want him better. He's missed 2 weeks of school and the Dr wants him on Home and Hospital now since she can't release him to go back. He will check in with his teaacher once a week and do the work at home.
Well....thank's for the thoughts and prayers, it means so very much to have people thinking of you in so many ways....I haven't been on the computer too much, here or facebook.
Oh...but the one thing I know?...My flu shot worked!! YAY! No flu for me
Love and hugs, Gail
So sorry you've had sick kids. It is never easy to see your kids sick and not be able to do much - but to deal with that on top of chemo - yikes!
I hope tomorrow's chemo goes easy on you and that the kids feel much better, and you get a break. So glad the flu shot kept you from getting the flu!0
