personal trainers
John does not give up easy and since Oct 2009 has fought the beast with every thing he had. Even thursday he asked for one more treatment and got it. John has had no appetite for weeks and was using three appitite stimulants to help him but still had no desire for food or much water. His body was telling him it is time to complete his days on earth and go on to a better place. On the way home he asked me to pull into Mcdonalds and got and ate three fourths of a double cheeseburger and a chocolate shake.
We have been preparing our family the best we could for what we hoped would come later not sooner. John and I have been getting some grief counceling. Friday we took our 13 year old grandson along so we could talk about Grandpa not being here when he came over and the sadness and happy time he has shared with his Hero Grandpa. We cried laughed and said many things we needed to say. Conner left there feeling sad but ok and sat in the back seat with his Grandpa holding his hand all the way as we drove home.
I will keep you up to date as to how John moves toward his change of address. He will be going onto see our parents and all those who have gone before us..He being a middle child I told him he managed to be in Heaven the first of the three so there fore he can have all the attention of his parents and be able to be a only child for a while.
As I have said at the beggining we will make an appointment with John's personal trainers Monday and they will be assisting him on his final step into Heaven..He has danced with cancer for almost two years now and it is time to change partners. John will be dancing his way into Heaven. He really was never much of a dancer but did say when asked what dance he would be doing and he said The Tango.
I will close this for tonight and crawl intobed beside this wonderful man who has loved me so very much for the past 40 years. I wish you all could have known him like we do you would be impressed. We have had a caring Bridge site for this Journey and if you would like to learn more about Johns journey you can look under John Skager. Thank you for all the support I will keep you informed on how things are going. Love and Gods blessing to all of you. Shirley

May
Dear Shirley and John
May God bless you both. May he grant you the strength and patience you will need at this most difficult time. I know where you are both coming from. I went through this with my dad almost a year ago. The would haves, the could haves. The but...what ifs. I am proud of you John for stepping forward and stating that this is your choice, this is what you want to do. May you go on this next journey in your life peacefully. Cherish the rest of your days. Love one another. Your grandson touched my heart when I read he held John's hand the whole way home. Priceless. Stay in touch. Praying for all of you.

Hi, I went to the caringbridge site and read Johns story. The pictures made me feel like I know you personally. It's heartbreaking to know the days are going to be shortened, but I admire John to want to spend some quality time with his beautiful family. Your pictures indicate He is very close to the grands and this time is so important. I know I didn't feel like being around anyone when I took treatment. My thoughts and prayers are with you . Please let us know how John is doing and I will check caringbridge,
