Some eating ideas
Hi,
I have a similiar problem. For now a G-tube (which is inserted in the stomach and my doctors say is preferred is not possible until the extend of cancer in my stomach is know. When needed I can have a j-tube which William has described.
Get a good nutritionist. They helped me find high high calorie foods. Ensure plus has about 350 per bottle and I have four a day. Get the plus. Mashed potatoes with a lot of butter work. I drink whole milk with about 25% chocolet syrup added. I take a flintstone chewable vitinim every day and that gives me more needed vitimins except potasium. Pills can be ground up and mixed with liquids.
I make myself take these and my family pushes me as well. I get four calls a day. I have suceded in adding weight and that gives me more energy. I also take pain management seriously. With less pain and discomfort and more energy my mood is better.
Hope this helps. Give me any ideas for soft fattening food you get please.

In the same position...
My father was in the exact same position. He could only drink water, juices, etc. Any food had to be well pureed.
Having a J-tube installed a couple weeks ago really helped. He's now being fed continuously. He doesn't like to eat by mouth because it tends to make him cough and causes discomfort. One thing he does like is unsweetened apple sauce mixed with a little apple juice to water it down. I also add a little cinnamon for taste. If you want to add calories, add sugar. It's healthier than some of the sweetener added to store bought apple sauce.
I also made homemade chicken stock using a recipe you can find online by doing a Google search for Ina Garten Chicken Stock.0 -

Thank you very much for everything.
I lost my dad to EC on August 29th so I completely understand what you are feeling. In three very short weeks, he was here and then gone. I know that both, my dad and yours, are no longer suffering but that doesn't make the pain any less. I pray for strength to get you through the next few days, weeks and months ahead. It is not an easy journey... Today is my birthday and I am missing the one call I looked forward to... My dad calling and saying" Happy Birthday, sweetheart." Hold onto the memories and love you had for him. They will carry you through.
Warmest regards,
Melissa0 -

I am so sorry to hear that your Dad has passed on. I know that this is a very difficult time for you and your family. I am happy that your Dad had a loving family to support him during his final days. He is now beyond the pain and suffering of cancer.
May God provide peace and support to you and your family during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My dad died 13 years ago this coming March from cancer and it still makes me so sad. Now my husband has cancer as well so it's really scary for me. Please try to remember that your dad is in a better place now. No more pain, worries, stress. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I would like to know your name if you don't mind. Helps with my prayers.
