Type 11 Diabetes with IDC--

I am sure I am not the first person to have Type 11 Diabetes (well controlled) with IDC. How will chemo/radiation work with diabetes? Also was told I am Grade 3 of 3--- any thoughts to that also? I am newly diagnosed, don't know the stage yet. Tumor was a quarter size--I see onsologist in three weeks. Any thoughts I would greatly appreciate it.

    Are you insulin-dependent? I am not; I had been taking 4 Metformin per day, plus Prandin before meals. As a result of my chemo, I lost about 30 pounds, so my Dr. cut me back to only 2 Metformin per day. My bloodwork has been good for my entire course of treatment (4 months of chemo, surgery, then rads). I was diagnosed one year ago this week. I haven't gained the weight back yet, thank goodness (well, maybe 10 pounds), but my Dr. is keeping a close eye on my bloodwork, doing HA1C tests every 3 months.

    I am also type 2 diabetic, no meds. My sugar level always shot up the day of chemo treatment because of the steroids. It was always back to normal in 1-2 days. I finished chemo in July had labs done with my primary in Sept. My A1C was 6.4 so it was good. God Bless
