Here, your main doctors (due to it being AGAINST FEDERAL LAW) are still wary about writing prescriptions, so you have to go to a doctor who's just into making money by giving you prescriptions for medical marijuana, this costs between $40 - $100 for that Doctor to do it. They consider this the price of an office visit, which is actually a pretty cheap office visit price wise here.

It is an office visit where you walk out with a "prescription" for an illegal substance.
Given the almost poverty wages for a GP in California it is hard to blame them, and they do provide a needed service.
To see how screwed up our legal system can be, watch "A/k/a Tommy Chong" funny and sad at the same time.0 -

I guess there are some things I'm still pretty darn naive about.... and this for-profit medicine floors me every time. I know some of our politicians want to go that way because there's more money to be made in it... but I count our lucky stars the Canada Health Act still protects our rights to affordable health care (which includes services such as writing prescriptions which are included in the office visit... which is covered by health care insurance) . I know we have totally different systems and that's fine. It's just every now and then I'm thrown off guard when something like this comes up.
Ok... will hopefully remember and understand for future reference

While in states where legal you probably have to pay to be certified as qualified to get the script for mj, in most states you also have to Register. That cost can range from $0 to $150 depending on the state. The state gets that money.0 -

Here, you don't have to get the medical state card (given by each county) as long as you have the certificate from the original doctor, most here do not get the state card as it costs the extra money I think it's around $125 or $150 here. So not only do you have to pay to get the doctor's "paper" but then you have to pay the state, so most do not do the additional state certification. I know I haven't. I think they are actually thinking of stopping the state certification because so many don't get it. Shoot, I have to renew mine this coming March, their only good for a year, going to have to watch my pennies.
