Sorry to be absent: I feel GREAT!
I've had 2 Avastin infusions so far (I'm to get Avastin each Tuesday for 3 weeks and then I will get it every other week from then on); and I take a 50 mg Cytoxin (oral chemo) pill each day. Honestly, I can't even tell I'm in treatment; I feel that good. For instance, I took my grandkids to the BouncePlex on Sunday, a huge trampolene complex where you jump from trampolene to trampolene & even the WALLS are trampolenes you bounce off of. I didn't bounce LONG before my whole body was screaming at me to STOP, but I did DO it!
I have no idea if this chemo combo is working on my cancer, but I hope so since I feel better on this than any chemo I've tried. I'm going to the Dominican Republic with my son Eric Feb. 25th to 28th for some quality mother/son time.
It's wierd that I feel this good with 35% of my liver compromised by cancer mets. You'd think I'd be on death's door. & maybe I am, but it sure doesn't feel that way to me. I remain symptom-free, and even side-effect-free on Avastin/Cytoxin.
Thanks so much for asking about me. ((((Hugs))))0 -

MY CA125 dropped 200 points after 1st Avastin infusion!!hopeful girl 1 said:Linda I am so glad to hear this news!

First positive treatment news in AGES to report: my CA125 went down 200 points one week after my 1st infusion on Avastin!! It's still a horrifying 1275, but that is 200 points less than it was before I started Avastin. I had a CA125 drawn today before my 3rd Avastin infusion, and those results will tell me what 2 Avastins made happen, but I don't have those results yet. And I've been told that Avastin can cause crazy ups and downs in CA125. But my oncologist said he's very encouraged by this, so I've decided to be encouraged by it also! I believe in celebrating ANY good news, no matter how fleeting it may be!
They started me with Avastin once a week for the 1st 3 weeks to give me a big push, and after today I will get Avastin infusions every 2 weeks. I take a 50 mg. Cytoxin chemo pill each morning and will keep doing that. I continue to feel GREAT on this, almost like a chemo break. If this stuff works, I will stay on it as long as I can. I know Avastin is powerful stuff with the potential to do harm, and every week I have to pee in a cup and get my blood pressure taken twice to make sure I'm still strong enough to take this. But so far, so good, no effects showing at all yet.
So my passport is out, and I am flying to the Dominican Republic on Friday with my oldest son for some sunshine and relaxation and quality time. My chemo-onc even okayed "no more than 2" glasses of wine daily for this vacation, so LOOK OUT, WORLD! After abstaining for so long, I can't imagine how tipsy and wild 2 glasses of wine will make me! Better pack my dancing shoes!0 -

party on Linda!!
You know, my short Dominican Republic vacation really showed me how important exercise is. It's been so freezing cold and windy and icy and miserable this winter that I wasn't getting outside and walking much. But over this little vacation, I felt better than I have in ages, almost 100% my old self! I'm not sure if it was the balmy sunshine or the tons of papaya and passion fruit and fresh picked bananas I ate, or the miles of beach walks I took with my son. But I feel so great!
I actually boarded the plane before my vacation with a stuffy nose, and it disappeared almost as soon as I disembarked into the sunshine. I had a hard time holding to that "2 glasses of wine daily" my oncologist okayed, and admit to a few coconuts filled with fruity tropical rum drinks. I also ate a few of the "no-no" foods for those with compromised immunity: suishi, honey, & is caviar okay?? 'cause I had that too! My digestion seemed to handle the exotic food and 5 course dinners just fine. Living large while I can; I strongly recommend it!
I have this week off of Avastin now that I've changef from weekly to every-other-week Avastin infusion, but continue to take my Cytoxin chemo pills daily. Still no side effects and no symptoms, so I'm curious to see what my CA125 is next Tuesday when I get labs again. Life is good!0 -

Linda, it sounds like you had a spectacular trip. I love you new picture although I am a tiny bit jealous! I think the caviar was probably just what you body needed! Sounds like a most exotic meal and drink plan....sipping from coconuts, etc.
Know you and your Son will always cherish the time together.
Am sure your CA 125 will be WAAAY down!!

Sitting in the dark, damp and gloom of an English Spring day (come on sun, show your face - the lambs have been born and need your warmth) I was transported to somewhere magical reading your posts.
I am so glad the holiday was so great - and I am sure that any gyn/onc would say that caviar was a diet "must have"!
I have my fingers crossed for you next Tuesday. In fact, I have everything that can be crossed, crossed, as I have the results of my post surgery/post chemo CT scan next Wednesday!
Kindest wishes
