My Mom who's 60yrs old is in day 7 of WBR and had yest. 1st round of alimta, carboplatin and zameta. Mom exhausted today and just sleeps. Could anyone tell me what I will be expecting in the next couple of weeks? Also having real bad constipation on colace any other advice, collace not really working :((

    we're going thru the same
    we're going thru the same here with my family. chemo is tiring - even if it is just having IV drugs run in. days 3 and 4 are probably going to be the ones where she gets sick - if she does. watch out for round 2 - that's really going to be when the nausea sets in. if she's on pain pills/narcotics (percocet, viccodin, etc) those can cause the bad constipation. try over the counter stool softeners/powders to add to drinks. if that doesn't help, give a call in to her doctor. hope that helps and good luck...

    survived 1st chemo tx
    Hi minn04~ Thanks for the advise, I cant believe it but she has not been sick yet knock on wood. She had "flu like syndrome" what it looked like on the computer for 2 days. The Doc also gave a bit of a lower dose the 1st tx do to getting rad at the same time, however the next tx will be full dose hope to still experience the same affect as the 1st one.
    Was your family member tested for the mutation test?
