My day?
While we were at the surgeon's office today he re-opened the wound (on purpose) causing me to bleed all over the table, and restarting the pain.
He wants the drainage to increase, and to prevent a backup behind the wound. He is giving me a week for it to work out naturally, and if not, they will fit me with a wound vac. Needless to say, this does not fill me with joyful thoughts. oh, I also made the mistake of googling wound vac images. I won't be doing that again...
For icing on this cake, he is sending me for a mammogram to help ID a painful cyst in my left breast (see my sex change post) again, not filling me with joy.
So tonight the darkness returns, my appetite is gone, the leftover chemo effects are in full swing.
There was good news today. We did my annual performance review by telephone this morning, and it was the best I ever received. I should max out both my bonus and my salary increase. And, if I am better in time, I can go on an incentive trip to Italy/Germany in May. Would be nice, I started chemo the week of last years trip to Argentina, so I missed out on that trip.
Thanks for listening...

Dear Blake
So very sorry to hear that the visit to the surgeon wasn't more upbeat. Did the doc indicate why you are having so much drainage? I had 3 drains in while in the hospital but nothing after.
The wound vac may not be great, but they work good. My son had one for wound on his leg and it helped tremendously.
Don't let the darkness stick around...it is bound to come back with the day you had, but make sure it gets the heck out of Dodge ASAP.
Since you now have a great vacation goal...get some posters of the areas...hang them up and keep that as you shining light to reach for.
Hang in there...and even when Buzz (with a Z) says to 'change special friends' this week, to me it means 'add to' the ones you already have.
Hugs,

Wow
Well, you've been a busy boy today, and not in a great way. So sorry you had so much going on! Praying for great results on the wound healing, and especially for a GREAT report on the mammogram. They're painful for a woman, so I don't even want to think about having to do it as a man.
Hope you get to go on the trip!
*hugs*
