Prayers / 3rd Treatment

Hi. My Mom had her 3rd chemo treatment yesterday. She did well during the treatment until she went outside to get into the car. She could hardly catch her breath, as a result of the chemo. She did develop the pins and needles in her feet and hands and very tired. Aside from that, she has been a real trooper.

Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Thank you - Liz

Please make sure she covers her face
Cold air is hard to deal with on chemo. Please make sure she covers her nose and mouth with a scarf before heading outside. Ideally, the car should be warmed up before she gets in.

    Sending warm thoughts your way.

Will do. I wore a scarf
Will do. I wore a scarf around my neck/mouth/nose and gloves with warm wool socks all last winter because of the chemo. Glad she's not too sick. It does make one tired though. I think I slept for two days after chemo. :)

    Much love and Hugs,

    Holly

Liz, I had my 3rd chemo
Liz, I had my 3rd chemo treatment on 2/14 - I feel for your Mom and understand what she is going through. Good thoughts and hugs coming your way. Is she on the Flofox? Will she be having 12 treatments? Curious, cause that's my regimen and I would like someone to share thoughts and side effects with? I am wondering if things get worse, better or stablize.

    Hope She Feels Better!
The Chemo can hit so hard! Keeping warm helps, but whatever feels the best will help. I did 12 rounds of Folfox during warmer weather, so I never really dealt with the cold except for air conditioning. Your Mom may need a sweater year round to feel comfortable. It wasn't unusual for me to make my bedroom cold, but use a heating blanket at the same time. It drove my family crazy! Sometimes whatever she wants will seem odd to you, but this can be common.

If the peripheral neuropathy gets worse the ONC may need to adjust her dosages as the side effects do seem to add up as time goes by. I finised Chemo 4 months ago and the neuropathy has been steady...no better.

Hope all of you are doing well!

    Take Care,

    Barb

    Hi
I finished 12 rounds of Folfox in October. I did seem to get a bit worse feeling as time went by. The fatigue got worse and the neuropathy started more toward the end of the treatments.
( My feet and hands have a strange feeling of slight numbness....kind of like something soft stuck on your foot )

Everyone seems to have their own set if problems. I had horrible nausea/vomitting and "the trots" during the first months. Nausea/vomitting was helped by Sancuso Paqtch and Emend pills.
The trots seemed to turn into constipation at times! I prefered the trots!

I think you get used to the side effects and how to deal with them. I was home most of the time and could be sick at home. If you are out and about more then you need to carefully think out bathroom strategies and look out for your fatigue level. It can hit very fast!

    Take Care and Good luck!
