It is my daughter's
It is my daughter's birthday! So Valentine's Day has become more about her, and less about the obligatory romance. My husband and I will give each other cards and small gifts, and the whole family will go out to dinner. We'll give my daughter the family birthday gifts on Monday, and then she's having a party with her friends on the following Saturday. Plus my daughter's school is closed for a teacher work day.
Have fun everyone!

My husband made reservations awhile back for a very nice restaurant that is very hard to get into. So, I am thrilled!!!
I bought a really pretty angora red dress, so, I will be dressed for Valentine's Day!
He is hinting around that he got me a piece of jewelry, so, we will see. He always buys the greatest gifts for me. I love Valentine's Day!!!
Have a Happy Valentine's Day!0 -

Valentine's Day is the one "holiday" that doesn't interest me at all~ I find myself muting the onslaught of commercials designed to "guilt" men into buying diamonds or heart shaped boxes of chocolate and the like. I am not even sure WHY I feel this way; I am married to a loving, generous, romantic man who is crazy about me...but I feel positively nothing but discomfort about an actual day set aside to compel romanticism! It just seems so contrived~ I don't buy anything for Reggie and doubt he has anything for me. If he did, it would be a silly Hoops and YoYo talking card from the Hallmark store which would truly make me laugh~ I do adore Hoops and Yoyo! If Reggie asked if I wanted to go out to dinner, he already knows I would kindly decline...much nicer to just have us in the kitchen cooking dinner together and then watching an old movie or something. Now THAT'S romantic! Possibly I would light candles...LOL
So no...we have nothing planned!
But that's jut me!
Hugs,
Chen♥
My beau is the same....We have come to term it the "valentine's day masacre"....
He truly did not grow up with Valentine's day...only within the last few years have I seen a big deal made of it here in The Netherlands.
So, we don't try any more, after a number of fights and hurt feelings (mine) on this day. It's just not worth the hassle.
BIG non-valentine, expatriate hugs, Kathi0 -

Going to watch my daughter in a three point shooting contest
Well, as I wrote earlier, my hubby had asked me to be gone for the afternoon on Valentine's Day and that he would call me when I could come home. So, what did I do? I went shopping with a couple of girlfriends and we had a blast! I bought him some presents and had them wrapped by a professional. They looked great! And, bought myself a really pretty outfit to wear that night and put it on at one of my girlfriend's house before I went home.
So, the call comes and I hurry home, anxious and excited! When I get home, my hubby had candles lit all over the sunroom and rose petals on the floor leading to the table that he had set with my good china. He even put out one of my good tablecloths and linen napkins. The table and the room were awesome and so romantic. It just looked beautiful!
He cooked steaks out ( yum ) and even made my famous twice baked potatoes with a fresh garden salad and dinner rolls. A bottle of good wine was chilling next to the table and I was thirsty and hungry! lol
We finished our dinner and then went into the family room to open our gifts. He had candles lit in there too and a fire in the fireplace. We sat by the fire as we opened every present and were both amazed! He had gotten me this absolutely beautiful pink stones and diamond bracelet! Not too big..just very delicate and so, so pretty!
He said he had one more surprise for me, and, he said we needed to go to our bedroom. I was like...uh huh..I know what this surprise is. lol When I walked into our bedroom, he had hung bunches of red hearts from the ceiling and on each and every one of them, it told a reason why he loved me! Can you believe it? Every red heart that I read, not only made me cry, but, touched my heart in a way that I didn't think possible. What an amazing gift! What a thoughtful and truly loving gift to me. I think it was the best one! Just don't tell him that. lol
So, this was another magical night, Valentine's Day, with the most loving, wonderful man that exists...my husband!

I love your writing Ritzy! You make me feel like I am there! Your evening sounded perfect and then I read about the hanging hearts and it got beyond perfect!
Does your husband have a brother? Kidding! I wouldn't trade my husband for anything.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
