Good News for Me!

Thought some of you would get a lift from good news. I was first dx Sept '06. Thought to be stage II, had colon resection and no follow-up except monthly blood tests. 18 months later with a rising CEA and not feeling great, I insisted on a PET. Guess what...Stage IV, mets to liver and lung. (think they were there all along but missed by the radiologists) Changed doctors and hospitals. 11 cycles of Folfox, Avastin and a Pfizer clinical trial drug, 27 ct scans, 5 PET scans, 6 MRIs, 9 sessions of gamma knife radiation, then 6 months of Xeloda. I just had my longest span between ct scans (6 months) and on the anniversary of 2 years POST chemotherapy my ct scan was clear, clean and perfect. I'm stoked. Scheduling to FINALLY have my port removed. Too cool! Good luck to all of you in this struggle...good things can happen.

    Congratulations!!!
That is fantastic news!!! I am sooooo happy and thrilled for you!! Obviously, being told Stage II, then finding out Stage IV, then the roller coaster of treatments, scans, more treatments, etc. etc.... you have been through the wringer and back!! And here you are today, ready to take on the world with a clean bill of health!!

This is total music to my ears now that I'm on Day 6 after my first Irinotecan treatment that gave me horrid days of side affects. Only this morning I feel like I am starting to see the light, and I know my onc is going to change my meds big time so hopefully we don't have to go through another horrid period of side affects... but its great to hear that sometimes the suffering and misery really can pay off!!! :D

    Thank you!!
