Hey,I went to the mall today and I walked by this guy and I think he was an anesthesiologist. He had to be....he almost torn my head off. PHEW!!!! LOL

    Thanks for the good laugh. Read all the other posts about that new term, gas passer. I just had a very busy and tense week so this surely lightened my day!

    Kellie,
    I don't mind the tooting as long as I am warned before I walk thru it.LOL I know it is not lymphoma related,but you know I believe some of our senses have changed because of the chemo and I really think the sense of smell has enhanced. The food taste is really different,almost extra sensitive to where food taste totally different. Sweats are extra sweat and acridic foods such as tomato sauce is just to acidy. I believe I can even taste the sour yeast in bread.Its so strong to the smell as well. It actually smells and taste moldy to me. Canned food has a lot of salt for packaging. That also taste a little to salty,but I can still enjoy it.So the whole thing in a nutshell is I don't think the sense of taste has changed,but just enhanced. The same with odors. It could be worse. I could be out chasing fire engines with my dogs or howling at the moon.Fire hydrants are starting to look more appealing to me though.LOL John (FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    Enhanced gag reflex..
    I've knowticed that when I smell something bad I immediately start gagging...didn't do that before chemo. We went to a Chinese restraunt awhile back and had to leave before we even ordered our food. The waiter walked by our table carrying someone elses diner and the smell hit me so wrong that I started gagging. I tried to stop it, but the food was delivered one table away from us so the smell just kept making me gag. We got up and left and when we got out to the parking lot we started laughing so hard that we both had tears running down our face. It's not good for business when a patron walks through your establishment holding their nose and gagging...you had to be there to appreciate it. The next time it happened was at Safeway while we were standing in the meat department...I had to run like the dickins from the back of the store and out to the truck...Steve said he explained to one of the clerks what was going on so they wouldn't think I was running out of the store with merchandise. My sense of smell has really changed since chemo...much more keen and my gag reflex is off the hook. Anyone else have the gag problem? Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    In regard to sense of smell- oh boy is mine sensitive! It has really changed since treatment. I have always had an acute sense of smell but now it's ridiculous. I drive my husband nuts sometimes. :) If there is something in the refridgerator that isn't quite fresh I can tell the minute I open the door! Crazy. I also can't stand certain smells like certain hand lotions, anything sweet like that, and grease.

    You are so right about grease. Now that will make me gag. I am talking about used cooking grease. It smells awful anymore. I know you probably don't check the oil in your car like men do,but I check it often in our cars and trucks and as soon as I remove the dipstick,YUK!!!!. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    Never had any trouble with the gagging in a chinese place. I guess because I love chinese food,but it does smell more intense than it used too. If I go into a food market and go in the meat dept. I do notice the meat has a really strong odor. Again, I think it always smelled that way,but now more intense and not that appetizing anymore. No way I can eat any fast food burgers anymore. If I open the bun the meat smells like chemicals. It probably is and with the keener sense of smell I can pick up on it right away. No wonder they call it a 99 cent heart-attack in a sack. Next time you go to a fast food place and get a burger open the bun and take a wiff and see what you smell.No bull,I went to a Burger King and got a 2 for 1 and bought the other one home to eat later. I opened it up after it was cold and it smelled a little like pinesol.I am sure to the normal person it would not have smelled that way,but it did to me. John (FNHL-1-4A-5/10)
