First to the above, I love seafood and scallops are tops on my list....

Reuben's, LOL, Dawn (Sweetblood) was on a Reuben kick a week or so ago...I' couldn't stand it, I had to go out and load up on the fixins. They are great all toasted with melted crusty cheese when fixed on the George Foreman..

    Best,
    John

    He hehe.
Sorry John. You know 90% of my facebook posts are food related. People are always telling me that my posts make them hungry. Stacey, when I posted my dinner tonight, John said that I must have read this thread and I couldn't take it and needed to get scallops. I was craving them for quite a while and didn't know about your post. As I am typing I see you posted to my status. Too funny. I wouldn't say that scallops slide down my throat, but I can actually swallow them with minimal choking.

Speaking of my constant food obssession.... Funny story. My best friend and I are opposite. I am VERY girly. High heels, love pink, hate to get dirty, love cooking, and I'm scared of power tools. Best friend is a Tom boy. Loves shooting guns, won't wear heels, despises pink, uses power tools to get dirty and build wood stuff. She used to pay me to cook and grocery shop for her. So we were headed to the grocery store and she said that she was wanting to get a 'spider'. I said, oh ok. She seemed surprised and said, oh- you know what that is? I said ya, a cast iron frying pan. She cracked up laughing and said that just shows how different our brains operate, you always think food and cooking! She meant one of those three wheeled motorcycles. Lol. I have seen those Spyders and there are really cool.

Not sure I can eat a real reuben yet although someone in chat suggested a way to severely tenderize cornbeef. But all of this talk has me headed toward an experimental version of the reuben.

    Take care, all,

    A reasonable Ruben facsimile.
I can't eat them the way my father makes them. We always cooked the brisket ourselves with our own pickling spice seasonings. Since I can't swallow that I had to use deli corned beef. I only used two slices of meat persandwich and I julienned the meat before I put it in the sandwich. The less chewing at stuff I have to do, the better. I also rinse the sourkraut a little to get out some of the salt and puckeriness. Then I used very thin seedless rye. Have to use a knife and fork and take little bites. Takes me an hour and a half to eat one little sandwich, but I got it down. :) I also had left over Ruben guts but no bread because my gram ate my bread, so I did have eggroll wrappers so I used up the rest of what I had up in an eggroll. I christened them rubenrolls. They were ok. Easier to eat then the sandwich. Lol.

    Ah
Thanks for the tip! Sounds like a very similar situation: I use pepperidge farm thin slice rather than regular bread or buns because of its texture and I omit beans from my chili (when making my so-called cheesburger). This sounds like something I can do.

    Thank you, my friend.
