Lisa......
after chemo was over I noticed that I would break out in hives. Not very often but nonetheless something I had never done before. Found out that after 55 years of not, I finally figured out that I had become allergic to penicillin. I was at the time trying to get over a bad toothache with antibiotics and Lortab and had broken out in small bumps and hives all over. After looking back and trying to determine by negating things as I went along I found that Lortab, I was fine, Tylenol or Acetaminiphen, still fine, but when I got to the penicillin, and took it by itself, Boom, hives itching and welts all over me...It had never happened before....Benadryl stopped the itching almost immediately and the bumps and hives went down after a couple of days.....Your body changes anyway while we age and I sincerely think the chemo alters it a lot as well...If Benadryl is ok for you to use it will take care of it quickly, but try to find out when you get the hives and remember backwards where you were, what you touched, what you ate, and keep a log. You should be able to tell what is causing the issue......Nerves will do the same thing......and one more thing, you certainly don't want shingles, but its not likely that is your issue.......Love, Hope and Benadryl......Buzz0 -
