I'm familiar with the blog. I thought I'd mention, as a word of encouragement, that the woman who writes the blog is an 8 year survivor of stage IV signet ring appendiceal carcinoma.

Just bumping this up as I see a few new members asking questions about Signet Ring and Mucinous Adenocarcinoma....Thought this might be helpful to you.

Another great Appendix Cancer resource

Lots of good info, good links. The author is a 9 3/4 year survivor, nurse, and now very involved with more research. Very reliable info.0 -
Help for Stage IV Appendiceall
Does that women have distant metastis? My husband a young 47 healthy Stage IV with recent HIPEC is having a hard time with the irintcantan (Campistar) any suggested alternatives? Already did Folfox prior to Hipec which was very easy for him (prior to surgery) but not sure as effective for the aggressive signet cell. Any suggestions? Right now in hospital for fluids and controlling diahrrea. Just needs to gain weight and possible go back to Folfox.
Thank you, Erin0 -

If not, he really needs to see on. I love my surgeon at MSK (Dr. Paty)- I was also stage 4, and did IP chemo with FUDR, followed by Folfox plus Avastin.

Cyto Reduction/HIPEC
Hi, my name is Mike Breglia, I was diagnosed with Appendiceal Adenocarcinoma in May of 2010, in a "Routine" Emergency Appendectomy. I put Routine in quotation marks because we were soon to find there was nothing Routine about it. In October of 2011 I travelled to to San Diego to the Moore Center for Cancer Research part of the USC. next to Thornton Hospital where I underwent the Surgery mentioned in the Subject Cyto Reduction/HIPEC. It was a 8.5 Hour Surgery where the majority of my Omentum was removed where most of the Tumors were located, the rest were shaved down to millimeters an then my body Core temp was lowered and Heated Cheme was introduced into the Abdominal Cavity for 90 minutes of the Surgery time. I then spent five weeks reuperating. I have been doing well. In Feb of 2013 a CT Scan detected a 2.9 CM Tumor growing and that made me eligible to be on a Trial. I am still on it and it is keeping the Cancer stable. I will continue to post as I go along.
