The Cancer Survivors Network (CSN) is a peer support community for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and friends! CSN is a safe place to connect with others who share your interests and experiences.
For all the old timers, sad news.
Our dear friend, Easyflip, has passed away.
Richard fought the good fight, and won. 12 years NED - Stage IV CRC. Sadly, he was diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer a few months ago, and again, the fight was on.
He was a fighter until the end. And a man to be reckoned with. A good man!
He has not been active on the forum for many years, but there still may be some who remember him.

I recall his smiling avatar, and that his cancer mirrored mine in position and diagnosis. They say a risk for new cancer is having had old cancer, so I suppose I might expect such a thing, some day. I hope he met it as well as he did the first one. I hope you're hanging tough there, Tru it's been a while……………

Dave, it is good to see you here. It has indeed been a while.
Richard fought the Esophageal Cancer with as must positive enegery as he could muster. Always smiling - well, probably not always, but for the most part. It made him susceptible to phenomena, and that is what got him in the end.
I think the three of us, pretty much followed the same timeline, back in the day.
I am plugging away. I had my heart attack, and while Cancer is always at the back of my mind, I know that my heart is a ticking time bomb, but I won't give up until ….. well, until the end. Which is about all we can do, isn't it.

I've been intimately involved with a few 'ends' now, since our active time here: Cindy of course, my folks, a couple friends, and I think I'm clear on what I don't want then, and what may be important if it is as slow as I've witnessed most often. The ability to take care of your own bodily activities and functions seems a huge indicator of having any quality of life, so I work to ensure that much, while still taking joy from my time and those things that have meaning for me. I'm solid, if not the "active retirement" models we see displayed in this world of endless media and 'connection'. I hope you still make it out to your walks in your canyon, when weather and body permit. I hope your mind's 'eye' can still take you to those places that funds, logistics, and/or limitations might not allow. Even in a lightly challenged/tested span, that now aided imagination seems awfully important in the later times of our existence, for as long as memory and an inner life serve. As for active stuff, work, Vegas, Nascar races, and road trips with my brother to see family in Idaho suffice to give me a sense of movement beyond house chores and this online screening, viewing, and reading. Take care…….

I sent you a Personal message.
I actually fell down twice, while up my little canyon this morning 🤪 . Chemo didn't do me any favors with my balance. It is my canyon that keeps me alive and kicking, though I need to realize that I am not getting any younger, and maybe I shouldn't be galavanting up and down the uneven ground as much as I used to.
Keep on keeping on, my friend. And maybe I will meet you in person, one day.
