DCIS of right breast. Mastectomy 2 weeks ago. Started tamoxifin 5 days ago and woke up feeling like a truck hit me this am. Nurse says not the drug but Google says highly likely to cause fatigue in the beginning. Suggests taking at night. Any suggestions or help?

I have been on Tamoxifen for a month now and I had a masectomy almost 7 weeks ago. My Dr told me that the fatigue can last three months when you start it and if it seems to last longer then you might need to have your pills lower from 20 to 10 .

Night time for some people can be better because it can help you sleep the fatigue off but then others can get insomnia with it.

Did suggest magnesium for it to help with sleep and leg spasms during it. I do get leg spasms and I do have fatigue. I'm hoping by the time it gets to March 17 maybe I will have less fatigue because I will have been on it for two months as my leg spasms are not as bad as they were last month. April 17 3 months.

I was wondering how you two are doing with the Tamoxifen. You talked about side effects. I know it has only been about two weeks, but February 21st seems forever ago…. I have the Tamoxifen pill in hand, but I'm hesitating…. Thanks and Best Wishes. 🙏

I'm having fatigue still that I think that it has increased this month and the time change doesn't help with it but I am starting to do more work out lately. Other than that I can be able to handle outings better.

Hey, I wanted to get back to you. Thanks for your response. No, the time change doesn't help at all!! 🙂 I hear you that you are able to be more active, even with the fatigue. That sounds promising. Maybe the outings actually help with the fatigue, in a run-about way, or help with positive outlook….

Taking Tamoxifin at night helps. Short walks and chair yoga help. Still having a small nap for about 30 minutes between 3 and 4. Hot flashes are bad. Bought a really nice handheld fan as face sweats a lot and my glasses slide down my nose. It is handy and right by my side while watching TV or reading.
