males with peritoneal cancer diagnosis
My brother has recently been diagnosed with peritoneal cancer, not positive of its origin. Should be given his final diagnosis and treatment plan within the next couple of days. Ascites has been one of his biggest issues along with severe loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea and pain. Would be interested in hearing perspective from any males suffering from this horrible cancer.

Sorry to hear about your brother’s diagnosis. I am 3 years into my “secondary peritoneal” journey. I have all the same symptoms mentioned. It started in the Apendix then to the colon and then to the peritoneal. The chemo didn’t work for this cancer. The HIPEC with debulking surgery saved my life. I had 2 years ago. Scans are every 6 months. The last scan shows the cancer is back. I get scanned every three months until they repeat the HIPEC surgery.
Certainly life changing, every day is a new adventure. I am blessed to have a good cancer team, support system and strong faith. I know God has a plan for me.
Hoping my journey can encourage others.

You are right, the not knowing can really wear you down with all the “what if’s “. I go through it with every scan. I pray you all will know soon and then get a plan of action. Now that there is a diagnosis, a cancer team can be put in place and the right treatment plan can be put into action. I truely hope you will have the support I do. It’s great that family is involved. Please let me know if I can help or encourage in anyway.
