Zytiga (Abiraterone) with Prednisone vs. Nubeqa (Darolutimide)

Just thought I'd share that yesterday I had another 3 month checkup with PSA remaining undetectable. 😀 After Pelvic IMRT and having been on Orgovyx (Relugolix) along with Zytiga (Abiraterone) / Prednisone for about a year it's been working as well as can be expected. 😀 I am however experiencing many of the typical symptoms that come along with ADT plus second generation Zytiga regimen. Although annoying, I've generally been tolerating them well. I have been reading that the newer drug Nubeqa having been recently approved by FDA for metastatic castrate sensitive PC which the ARANOTE trial confirmed has a preferable side effect profile when compared to the other drugs in its class. Supposedly more effective and no need for Prednisone. 😀 My MO agreed with me and has stopped the Zytiga and started the process to ween me off the Prednisone and in a few weeks start Nubeqa. I don't know the exact cost yet but now that it's FDA approved my MO is confident it will be covered by Medicare. I'm a little nervous about switching mid stream with something that's working so well, but hopefully less side effects is worth the gamble.

    Hi Dave,

"OK" being the operative word. I'm tolerating the drugs fairly well but have not been sleeping great since I began the regimen which exacerbates fatigue. MO believes prednisone is the culprit. Also, Nubeqa is much less likely to cause cardio issues and high blood pressure and easier on the liver than Zytiga not to mention it's more effective for longer term PC remission.

Dr. Mark Scholz explains it way better than I can in the link in my first post.
