uterine carcinosarcoma

Hi ladies,

I had breast cancer did lumpectomy, chemo and radiation removed 11 lymph nodes. Then it came back 3 yrs later so i did double mastectomy this September. Come November this yr mri of the pelvis showed abdominal mass and when they went i.n to do surgery they found mass spread on my omentum. They came out and got a consent from my family for total abdominal mass removal, hysterectomy, removal of ovaries, fallopian tube and uterus. Plan is chemo and immunotherapy. need all the advice i can get am only 52. thanks

fatima, dang girl. I'm sorry about all you have gone through, and while they needed approval from your family to do, what sounds like a complete hysterectomy, I hope they had been told to you in advance that it could have been a possibility.

Did they tell you what the abdominal mass was? Not sure where you are located but are you working with a gynecologic oncologist? Is it a gyn cancer?

Regardless, let's address treatment. I am sure you will be meeting with someone to discuss the chemo and immunotherapy plan. While chemo isn't a walk down the road - it is doable. You will be surprised by what you can do. Find out how many treatments you will get, will you need a port, ask what the side effects are - for example, chemo is constipating so what are they suggesting to help with that (many of us took Miralax).

What kind of test have they done on your tumor to determine what is the best immunotherapy for you? It is newer to the treatment world and is now part of the standard of care.

I know there are other women and family who would comment, but if you have any other information that may let them help you, especially if they have dealt with what you have been diagnosed with.

What else can we help you with?? Please let us know. You are not alone.

Dear fatima, I'm here from the CRC boards, but I, also, just went through an omentectomy with bilateral oopherectomy (ovaries and fallopian tubes), that also included an appendectomy, resection of 2 (more!) parts of my colon , debulking of much of my peritoneal lining, and removing some lymph nodes. (Surgery 12/8/2025) I am 48yo female. If you need someone to talk to for support through recovery, I would love to be here for you. I hope you are doing okay. It's a big surgery!
