Uterine Carcinosarcoma (MMMT) Survivor – In remission 9 years after diagnosis and treatment

Good morning, all! I’ve been away from the Board for quite a while due to a raft of family issues (although I’m fine personally). I’m hoping that things will be settling down in the near future and that I can finally catch up with everyone here soon.

But in the meantime, I did want to provide an update on my own post treatment status. I’m still in remission from my bout with Stage 3B carcinosarcoma cancer, nine years after diagnosis and eight years after finishing treatment. And feeling good, even after turning 70(!) this year.

My diagnosis and treatment came just before the wave of new immunotherapy drugs were being introduced, so I had surgery, conventional chemo (four drugs, two different phases) and radiation. If you’re interested, you can read about my treatment program by clicking on my profile pic.

Thanksgiving is always meaningful to me now as I was diagnosed and preparing for surgery around this time back in 2016. So, I’m thankful to have another chance to be with family and friends this year and visit with all of you.

I cannot TELL you how happy I am to hear from you! The board is quiet, I guess I will take that as a "good" sign??? But we are here.

I used to feel hesitant about posting my remission updates, knowing that many other women were either just starting their treatment journey or anxiously awaiting the outcome of their treatment.

But after I was on the Board for a while, I began to realize how much I looked forward to hearing from others that were in remission as it gave me hope that I might get there too.

Some women only post here when they are in active treatment. And that is a very important reason to use this Board and we welcome those new members. But while we hope their treatments had positive outcomes, we don’t really know when they stop posting.

So, I hope different members’ remission posts are taken as proof that treatments, while not always successful, do work in some cases and each of us hope that we’ll be one sharing good news here too.
