Alk positive anaplastic lymphoma in brain

Are there any successful treatments for this? And what is the survival rate? My 19 year old was just daignosed. .He receieved first chemo treatment. Now doctors concerned it may be in his brain.

    Sorry. He was diagnosed with alk positive anaplastic lymphoma his his body. Receieve his first chemo. Docotors concerned it went to his brain.

    Sorry to hear this. ALCL ALK+ normally responds very well to standard CHOP therapy. Is there a reason why the physicians believe it may have crossed into the central nervous system? It is good to remember that at this point, it is only suspected of crossing into the brain. Pathologists, radiologists and hematologists incline toward being concerned - that's their nature.

    As to drugs which cross the blood-brain barrier, there are at least two; Methotrexate and I believe, Pralatrexate. I have received both drugs, although It was never determined if I had central nervous system involvement or not. If you are in the US, I strongly suggest that your child be seen at a National Cancer Institute designate comprehensive cancer center. They possess cutting edge technology, perform clinical research and employ the best and brightest.
