New and scared
I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage one today.
I am being referred to a specialist (my gyno doesn't treat cancer).
It feels like standing on the edge of a high, high rooftop and looking down.
Any suggestions on managing the anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed?
Thanks for reading

It’s not unusual to feel this way initially. Catching it this early makes it highly likely you will beat it and become cancer-free. Sit quietly or lie down and take slow, deep breaths. Easy. No strain. No hurry. Think of a phrase that calms you. Mine is “I am. At peace.” “ I am”as I inhale; “At peace” as I exhale. Sending healing energy your way.

Hi, TexasKitty1959! I am so glad that you are advocating for yourself by finding this group. There are lots of helpful comments here you can also check at your cancer center to see if they offer counseling to help you adjust to your diagnosis. I think for me, the not knowing my treatment, options or path was more difficult, and once I was on board with a specialist, a lot of of that uncertainty transformed into a mindset of steps for self-care. I’m 15 months out from ovarian cancer now and could not have done it without trusting my oncologist. Good luck to you.

Hi TexasKitty1959, I am a visitor from the Uterine/Endometrial cancer board. I check in on my gyn sisters as I have met others who have found themselves with diagnosis of all these beasts.
It sounds like your gyn turned you to a gynecologic oncologist - so that is great. You really do want this specialist to help you through this.
It is all very overwhelming. I don't think I'll ever forget how I felt 13 years ago myself. I wish I had listened to my friend who recommended asking for something to help me calm down during those early weeks.
I am not sure why these boards go through spurts, obviously I still check the boards because it was so valuable to me and, as I said, I remember it all so well.
Early diagnosis is good. It is possible your gyn onc will recommend a hysterectomy or just treatment. While I will invite you to the Uterine/Endometrial board, I just hope you find a place to talk. You are not alone.

I had persistent pain in my lower left belly way down by my leg. My general doctor sent me for an ultrasound and they found a huge cyst. 2 Liters. She referred me to my GYN oncologist and that lady is a goddess. She knew what she was looking at long before I did. stay on top of every appointment so you are getting scheduled as soon as possible so you can have surgery if needed as soon as possible. I hope you are in a better when than when you first commented.
