11 month post RARP
Just had what is considered my one year visit post surgery by my Dr.
PSA still undetectable at 0.014 which is where it has been since my surgery a year ago. We are now moving to six months appointments vs 3 months and if still undetectable in a year will go to annual PSA testing and visit.
Still slightly incontinent. Had been down to one shield a day mostly to play it safe until I came down with Covid three weeks ago and the coughing made it worse so back to a pad during day and shield at night for now.
Erections are non existent at this point. Have tried Cialis and Viagra with no noticeable results. Not to gross anyone out but occasionally after a bowel movement there sometimes is what I consider to be a mini erection but it never lasts. Dr says that is a sign there are still nerves in the area and this could eventually lead to erections.
Dr says could still see improvements over next six months but that the Trimix injections are an option. Not really interested in that at the moment as my DW has arousal issues as well so we are sort of “two peas in a pod”
Absolutely NO regrets at all to having RARP done. Scars are minimal and barely noticeable for the most part (or I’ve just gotten used to them). Flaccid penis is shorter and even though I am fully circumcised the head of my penis is often withdrawn and covered with skin where my urethra was shortened. This has not improved since catheter removal so when I pee I have to pull the extra skin back to keep from missing the toilet or if seated keep from shooting out.
It has certainly been a learning experience and I’m still learning more as I go!
