Intrahepatic Cholangio, Stage 1 but with R1 positive margin
Hello,
I’m looking to connect with anyone who had Stage I intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and surgery that resulted in a positive (R1) margin.
- What treatment did you do after surgery (chemo, radiation, surveillance, etc.)?
- How have your outcomes and follow-up been?
- Any advice you’d share with someone in this situation?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

I was diagnosed Feb 2025 and had surgery in April but margins were clear. I had four cycles of gemzar and six cycles of Xeloda. I was declared NED in June.
My biggest advice is to assemble a medical team you have full faith and trust in. Write any questions down in a notebook you bring to your appointments when you think of them. Accept help when offered. I’m rooting for you!
