I was Diagnosed 8/4 with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in my left breast found on a screening mammogram. So thankful for this. I feel like things have taken so long to get going. Screening mammogram was 7/15 follow up 7/22 Biopsies x2 had 3 suspicious areas 7/30 results 8/4. MRI of both breast 8/15. I have seen Surgical Oncology and plastic surgery and awaiting a surgery date as the plan is for partial mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time. Estrogen and Progesterone + Her2 had to be sent for additional testing but ultimately came back negative. Grade 2. I am starting to get anxious about the wait. Am I crazy or is this taking forever?

Also did anyone else have sharp pains in the affected breast that are intermittent and shoot to your nipple?

My time frame was very similar last summer. I was diagnosed on 7/3 but didn't have my mastectomy until 8/22. It does seem like a long time even though my surgeon said we were within the window of time that was recommended. I'd recommend taking this time to make sure you are fully prepared for surgery and informed on what to expect. Get your helpers arranged, make sure things you'll need are where you don't have to reach up, etc. I recommended a mastectomy pillow. I just had follow up surgery and it is still comforting to sleep with.

I didn't have pains in my nipples before surgery. However after surgery I swore I had pain shooting up through my nipples. However I no longer had nipples!

I wish you well on your surgery and rest and recovery after.
