Major post-LAR gains after switching anti-depressant
Here's an FYI that I hope can help others.
Stage 3 rectal cancer, had LAR eight weeks and on temp ileostomy, severely suffering, unable to stand up and walk for the last 3 weeks due to tenesmus, pain and incontinence. It turns out the anti-depressant given by my family doc was a stimulant and it neither helped me mentally (I was in pretty bad shape) or physically as I think the stimulant also stimulated my rectum.
My psychiatrist asked me to switch to Amitriptyline and it’s been an immediate major change.
50% mental improvement plus 20% physical improvement immediately occurred and then things got even better now I guess as %80 and %35 when compared to my lows.
Just to remind that your anti-depressant could be hurting or aiding you.
