Recurrence of upsc

Hi, I know this board has been quiet. But I have been on for a little over 3 years when my mom was first diagnosed with stage 1a upsc. She was almost 3 years out when it returned in her omentum. She has just finished another 6 rounds of chemo with keytruda, Keytruda will now continue. The last 2 scans have showed a good decrease in tumor size. But the are not completely gone. She handles treatment pretty well, and now is so scared to be off chemo, with the fear keytruda won’t keep the cancer from growing. My mom’s tumor is also a pmmr tumor, which from what I read doesn’t always respond to immunotherapy. She is so scared, she is only 68 and is not ready to go. This is the hardest thing ever, and I pray for everyone here fighting.

I guess I’m just looking for some hope.

Hey kpro, I am sorry to see your mom has to deal with this again.

It is understandable that she is afraid to be off chemo, but you said she is going to continue maintenance on Keytruda (I think I read that right). pMMR can be tricky, and usually like a 'helper'. I don't think she wants to be on chemo forever (nor would they necessarily do that), but maybe asking about another little helper, lenvatinib.

Yes, it has been quiet, but we are out here. Please let us know how she is doing. She is lucky she has you.

I believe her oncologist mentioned adding that if the cancer begins to grow?

    Thanks for your response

Sorry to hear you Mom has a recurrence. There are others on the board who have been through this. I miss hearing from them. But there is hope. Kaylie seems like one of them.
