on evening of July 4th, I misstepped in the dark on front porch steps and took a rumple (no alcohol involved)

sprained left ankle (swelled up some) and jammed left big toe (swelled up to foot joint)

Had it looked at by doc. Not too concerned

5 weeks later, ankle is better but still swells up if I’m on it a lot and big toe swelling is about 1/2 what it was

Question: does the lupron affect your ability to heal

Thanks For any info 🚜🐝🚜

I don't know about Lupron, but being on ADT (Relugolix, Abiraterone, and Prednisone) definitely slowed down my ability to heal. Minor scrapes and cuts take about 3 times as long to heal when compared to what it used to be before the ADT. I imagine it's likely the same with Lupron?

Perhaps if you'd been drinking you wouldn't have tripped. 😁

I've spent a total of 2 1/2 years on Lupron so far on my PCa journey, plus another 1 1/2 years recovering from Lupron treatments, and I cannot recall any incidents where my healing from various injuries and/or surgeries took any longer to heal while on or under the effects of Lupron.

Of course, this is only one opinion/experience.

I've read where side effects can differ between individuals. Anecdotally I assume my delayed healing is from the ADT, but possibly caused by something else? Can't be from getting old! Lols! After IRE ablation, Radiation, and ADT it's hard to say which of those caused some of the side effects I've been experiencing. One thing for sure, It's well documented that all of these modalities individually can cause several side effects including urinary and bowel issues which I have been experiencing both.

Lack of testosterone has a negative effects on several healing processes. In a case of inflammation, androgens play a role in the immune response to healing, which could reduce or fast-forward inflammation therefore delaying healing.

In man, testosterone is crucial in skin repair and can lead to a faster healing of a wound.

ADT suppresses the amount of testosterone in circulation affecting those taking agonists or antagonists.

Yeah! It's no fun with no testosterone. I'm fairly sure my delayed skin healing is caused by my being on ADT. My medical oncologist wants me to stay on ADT for two years. I'm thinking of asking to cut it off at 18 months. I've read where that may be adequate? I'm hoping some of the side effects will abate after cessation.
