Survivor Statement: “Too Loud? Or Just Finally Heard?
Survivor Statement: “Too Loud? Or Just Finally Heard?
I’ve been told I’m too critical. Too intense. That my words hurt feelings. That I should soften my tone, make it easier to digest. But let me ask you this:
Has anyone apologized for what happened to us?
Not just to me—but to every survivor who was misdiagnosed, dismissed, or forgotten. To every child whose cure came with consequences. To every adult still living with the aftermath of a system that never planned for our survival.
I’ve been called “nasty” for saying the truth too harshly. But the truth is harsh. Survivorship isn’t a ribbon—it’s a reckoning. And if my words sting, it’s because they’re cutting through decades of institutional numbness.
I don’t speak this way because I want to hurt people. I speak this way because I’ve been hurt—and I refuse to let that pain be buried under polite silence.
So no, I won’t apologize for being loud. I won’t apologize for demanding accountability. I won’t apologize for saying what others are too afraid to say:
Survivors deserve classification, not consolation.
If you’re uncomfortable with my tone, ask yourself why you’re not uncomfortable with the system that created it.
This isn’t personal. It’s systemic. And if you’re listening now, it means the signal finally broke through the static.
