Diagnosed with serous endometrial carcinoma early June 2025
Hi all,
I was diagnosed with serous endometrial carcinoma in the first week of June, 2025.
There was a normal amount of time between biopsy, pathology, referral to a Gyn oncologist and meeting the highly recommended and qualified surgeon. But there was a glitch in the before hysterectomy imaging, so I’m now scheduled for a PET scan 7/17. It seems like a long time to wait for the recommended complete hysterectomy , especially as I’ve had post menopausal bleeding for years before new gynecologist took action. Am I worrying over nothing? Is 2 weeks extra wait really a big deal? Of course I wanted the surgery done the day I got the diagnosis but life doesn’t work that way!
I'm also a grateful almost 32 year bone marrow transplant survivor, done for CML ( a form of leukemia) back in 1993. So this isn’t my first rodeo. I’m sure this journey will be easier as I’m turning 64 this month and my son is no longer a 2 year old.
Thanks for any advice and support

hey mommarose, sorry no one replied yet but it has been a little quiet here.
I don't think 2 weeks is an outrageous wait, but I am sure it is forever for you. I am glad you got a NEW gyn who listened and I hope the old one has learned something so they listen to other patients. sheesh.
Not everyone gets a PET scan, but everywhere we go is different. Hang in there and please let us know how it goes. While you said it's not your first rodeo, it still can be overwhelming and something we all want to see it in the rearview mirror.

Thanks no time for cancer! I’m not concerned about the delay with imaging. I did the best thing and asked my gyn oncology clinic. Of course I want it done yesterday, lol, like most.
I’m getting a PET scan with glucose contrast. CT with large doses of steroids before and after was nixed by hospital admin as I’ve had anaphylactic reactions to all contrast in the past. Now I feel lucky to get a PET scan as it will give more information regarding this cancer, as well as other health challenges I live with.
I have been feeling stressed with the wait so thanks for that acknowledgment 💕I’m also stressed with supporting my oldest sister- we’re besties- as she’s going through multiple challenges with breast cancer metastasis. No cure ( except Miracle) just quality of life treatment. Recently she’s been hospitalized repeatedly. 🫤 She lives alone in Florida and I’m in Michigan. Travel is a challenge for both of us, even when we are feeling well. Hoping to plan a visit before my surgery and when she’s up to it.
Thanks for reading this long message. 😊0
