Will United HC drop me eventually because of my expensive meds?
I am 70 years old andhave stage four prostate cancer, which is metastasized to my bones. I was diagnosed one and a half years ago, have been through four months of chemotherapy, and then was started on Nubeqa which I took for about four months before it stopped working. My oncologist recently started me on Lynparza, which is apparently a very expensive medication. I’m concerned that my insurance, United healthcare, will eventually find some way to drop me if I continue on this medication. Does anyone else any ideas about this?

Very sorry to hear that your treatment is starting to not work. With it metastasized to your bones and not working please consider if you are in proximity to a comprehensive cancer center it can open many new doors to experimental promising new treatments in Phase 2 trials that otherwise you would have no opportunity to access and not needing to worry about your insurance covering the clinical trial.

We can never be certain what may happen with insurance coverage.

Hi,
You might want to have your doctor or you contact the drug company to see if they can help financially if your healthcare provider does not want to cover it. Some drug companies can get you a reduced price.
