Therapist Help
Hello.
My husband was diagnosed last November with Stage IV breast cancer. Last Monday, the oncologist told us the tumors are resisting his current medication (Truqap) and he would need to go to a clinical trial or chemo. He's struggling with this news, and I think it would be beneficial for him to talk to a therapist about it. I'm having a hard time finding a therapist who can help him - there are a lot of marriage counselors, but I can't seem to find a therapist who can help him with his diagnosis. Any suggestions on finding a therapist who can help him?

My hospital had a Patient Navigator for cancer services and an oncology social worker that helped connect me with cancer resources in our area. Being in a big city, we are blessed with lots of resources, but there is a non-profit cancer center near us that offered free sessions with therapists who specialized in issues related to cancer. Your hospital might also have a list of similar resources or clinicians in your area with that specialty who could help.
