Hello 48m I was wondering if anyone had any information about my CT w/contrast or US report I have an appointment set with urologist in 20 days, long wait and very worried.

US -2 complex cysts, the larger in mid region is 2.8x2.0x3.2 in 2019 it was 1.5x1.1x1.1, margins are irregular. Internal septations noted. No dominate soft tissue mass is seen associated with the cystic lesion.
Impression Bosniak IIF of right kidney.

CT - Simple right renal cortical cyst. No hydronephrosis cyst measure 3.2cm there maybe minimal internal enhancement without obvious solid component or septation.

Impression- Right renal cystic lesion 3.2cm w/ possible enhancement. No obvious solid component or septation. This finding does raise concern for neoplasticism process, particularly given the enlarged adjacent right retroperitoneal lymph node. No other health issues besides herniated discs in cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.

Any information or thoughts appreciated!

Thank you!

I didn’t get the info down right I have simple cyst that is smaller and this one is the larger that the concern is with and is a renal sinus cyst, all other organs normal and the lymph node is 1.8x1.7 cm. Thank you.

I had an incidental finding of two neoplasms a little smaller than that on my left kidney and was sent to the urologist (which took a couple of weeks). The urologist sent me to an interventional radiologist who agreed to use microwave ablation to remove them and to biopsy them at the same time. He did the ablation 2 weeks ago and the biopsy results were that they were benign oncocytomas. The urologist was the best first step - he's seen so much of this stuff, he knew exactly what treatment to refer me to and I got great care. By the way - the radiologist who read my initial MRI (where the incidental finding came from) characterized the neoplasms as probably renal cell carcinoma - but he was wrong. He was wrong because it was just a guess based on their appearance - the biopsy told the rest of the story. Best of luck to you.

    Hello,

There is a big possibility that your lesions are cysts and nothing else.

Previous poster had solid lesions, which are seldom benign in kidneys. Your's look like cyst after all, so chances of good outcome are even bigger.

Enlarged lymph node could sound concerning, but it doesn't mean it is cancer and it has spread.

My husband was Stage 1 (now in remission for 10 years), but he does have some enlarged lymph nodes in abdomen, which have nothing to do with his kidney cancer and are not a concern. They are from him having Hep C years ago. Some nodes enlarge due to infection and never go down.

Waiting is the hardest, but your bigger cyst is smallish, so there is no immediate emergency even if turns out to be carcinoma. 3 cm is small in kidney cancer world. So even in the worst case scenario you'll be allright.

Hang in here and let us know how it ends up!

Thank you very much for the response, glad to hear your husband is doing well and I hope that continues. I will post the information I get from the urologist as well.
    Thank you again :)!

Hello reporting back after the urologist appointment.
    Good news…

He said he doesn’t believe it is serious and just a complex cyst it was actually 2.2cm in 2016 when I had a kidney stone removed he said they had the old CT still and has grown 1cm in 9 years. He said it needs to be followed up in 4 months with another scan. He did say it was in a bad spot renal sinus and that would require removing the whole kidney and he will not do that unless he is positive it needs to come out because of cancer.
He is concerned about the enlarged lymph node and is sending me to an oncologist to have that Pet scanned.

I will report what they find there as well.

    Thank you!

Thanks for letting know! Good that doc doesn't think the cyst is actually cancer. I wish you all the best wth PET scan. As experience shows, enlarged lymph nodes in abdomen can be due to many relatively benign things.

    Good luck!

    A.

I seen the oncologist Wednesday they did a CT w/contrast of my chest Friday and they are supposed to schedule the Pet Monday they said so hoping pretty soon. I am seeing a second opinion cancer urologist at KU cancer center on the 11th of July as well.

    Thank you!

Pet scan went through and the lymph node had a very high suv of 24.6. Went to the second opinion and he doesn’t think the cyst is cancerous either. He is recommending a biopsy of the node as well as the oncologist I seen locally. So that is next up.

Thank you, yes on the kidney was good news they just want to watch it. The lymph node or what they thought was a lymph node is now a Paraganglioma tumor they had me do a dotatate scan and that is what they came back with. It is very rare tumor and or it has been journey to here. Now trying to find a specialist for this at Mayo or Md anderson. Hope all is well for everyone along these journeys we have to go down.

Yes mine didnt have much they said it was just a Bosniak 2f on the kidney cyst but they want to check it in 4 months. There is some good info on kidney cancer on smart patients check it out it will help you if you are after information on the kidney. This Paraganglioma tumor I have now it really lit up on the pet scan 24.6 suv and 18.2 on dotatate scan. It is a very dangerous surgery as it is attached to my aortic valve but they said that is the only option is to remove and hope it doesn’t come back not a lot of information on them. Good luck to you !

This is really hell of a journey…

But it is good that you have this discovered and identified. Paraganglioma is benign, right? Is it mandatory to take it out?
