Hi. I'm on Entrectinib and it is reaking havoc with my taste of food.

It has made many things taste terrible. It might be those things that are sweet or have sugar in them. Not totally sure yet.

This morning eggs tasted 'almost' normal. And white toast w/spray non butter stuff tasted okay.

Any thoughts/suggestions. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Brush your teeth gently with unflavored toothpaste before and after eating.

Rinsing with plain water may help as well.

Stay away from your favorite foods. PTSD can develop around treatments, and you don't want your favorite dishes to bring back bad memories.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to help flush byproducts out through your urine, reducing their presence elsewhere.

Sugar-free hard candies or gum can help stimulate saliva production.

If foods taste metallic, try using plastic or wooden utensils. While I usually associate the metallic taste with platinum-based chemo, it can happen with other treatments too.

Marinate meats in sweet or acidic sauces like teriyaki or lemon juice to improve flavor.

Experiment with textures. Try soft, easy-to-chew foods like scrambled eggs, pasta, or soups, but also include crunchy options like crackers or raw vegetables for variety.

Serve foods at different temperatures to find what’s most appealing. Sometimes cold foods have less smell and can be more pleasant.

I hear taste changes often resolve with time while on Entrectinib. So hopefully it doesn't last long for you.
