IDC breast cancer 1B and upcoming colonoscopy
Hi 👋 I’m full of anxiety and fear. Just wondering if anyone else here has had a colonoscopy as during the testing phase of determining how to treat the cancer. Any advice or stories will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi there! I just wanted to reach out and say—you are not alone. I recently had a colonoscopy myself during my cancer journey, and I completely understand the anxiety and fear that come with it. It’s okay to feel that way.
I was honestly nervous too, especially about the prep. Drinking the solution wasn’t fun (let’s be real—it tasted awful!), but I kept reminding myself that this is a step toward healing. The procedure itself was quick, and the team took great care of me.
If I can offer any advice:
- Try to stay hydrated and follow the instructions closely.
- Have someone you trust nearby for support.
- And remember to be gentle with yourself—your feelings are valid.
I prayed a lot during that time and leaned on faith, reminding myself of Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you.” That gave me strength.
You’re doing the right thing, and you’re braver than you think. One step at a time, you’ve got this.
With love and understanding,

Hi - colonoscopies are life saving procedures and quite easy to handle when under anesthesia. I had two colonoscopies and two rectosigmoidoscopies so far this year. Next month, one more sigmo... Just make sure they make you sleep so you won’t feel a thing.
The preparation is slight tiring. Two days before you stop eating dark colored food and fruits with seeds etc. The day before very little food and in the afternoon you drink the medicine.
There should be no pain or even slight discomfort during the procedure. The anesthesia agent is a light one too so have no worries about any long term effects. I was told mine (propofol) left my body in 90 mins.
