Positive Cologuard Test - Opting for Virtual Colonoscopy
Hello all. First time posting here.
A few days ago, I received the dreaded positive Cologuard result. After reading a number of internet forums about Cologuard being notorious for false positives, my anxiety about the test result has all but disappeared.
I'm a 45-year-old white male. No symptoms. Normal stools. No family history of colon cancer. Physically active and eat extremely healthy. (Obviously shocked to get a positive result.)
My primary care doc referred me for a colonoscopy, but I just informed him that I have decided to opt for a virtual colonoscopy instead.
Personally, I believe an optical/standard colonoscopy is too invasive just to "check" for something. Of course, if the CT scan identifies any abnormalities I'll have to proceed accordingly.
I'm not so concerned with the prep, but I'm not looking forward to being puffed full of air... I can only imagine the gas pains.
Anyone have any experience with a virtual colonoscopy / CT colonography?

Hello sir,
Although I have gone through two screening colonoscopies without any concern, you might get more information in the colon cancer blog group. This group focuses on prostate cancer, which really does not apply to colon cancer screening or treatment.
I am certain there are plenty of us in this group who have undergone the screening scope and would tell you it is definitely worth the the invasiveness if it means early diagnosis and treatment.
Good luck to you,

Hi,
Don’t mess around, go get a standard colonoscopy, it can save your life.
